A federal appeals court extended Temporary Protected Status protections for Haitians just in time to this Sunday. A last-minute order from another court suddenly changed the Haiti TPS expiration date to Monday. Florida Representative Carlos Gimenez made his position clear. He said he backs the extension. That support matters because health staff in Florida stand to lose jobs without a decision. On another front U.S. State Department officials repeatedly stated Haiti remains too volatile for safe repatriation right now.
