Richard Carapaz claimed stage 18 with a solo ride up the Alps. Overall leader Tadej Pogačar retains yellow. Mads Pedersen stretches his hold on the green jersey classification. Jonas Vingegaard dropped points in the mountains race. One onlooker ran onto the the road near the top of the top. Carapaz needed to swerve clear with seconds to spare. The fallout came close to two kilometres from the summit. No riders went down. Leaders pushed straight on.
