Tadej Pogačar claimed the Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider launched an attack on Alpe d'Huez and finished well ahead. Only Richard Carapaz came within reach. Pogačar's group had sick teammates earlier in the stage but he remained fit. His lead bounced upward on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz picked up Stage 18 just minutes behind.
